How to change up your home with inspiration from the pantone spring/summer 2021 color trends
The Pantone 2021 Spring/Summer color trend report has arrived.
Generally speaking I can’t stand being told what to do, and I have also seen The Devil Wears Prada so many times that I feel like the people behind the color trend reports are basically pre-selecting colors for everyone to follow in fashion and home decor. What’s the fun in that?
However, I do like being able to get a fresh perspective on color combinations and looking forward to the future, particularly when we seem perpetually stuck in the shitshow that is 2020.
“Offering a range of shades illustrative of nature, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 underscores our desire for flexible color that works year-round. Infused with a genuine authenticity that continues to be increasingly important, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 combine a level of comfort and relaxation with sparks of energy that encourage and uplift our moods,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Who doesn’t need a mood booster these days?

So , how do you actually use these colors, does this mean you need to repaint every room in your home? No. Please do not do that.
I like starting with the core colors because most of the time the reflect at least part of my existing color palette with at least one that is more neutral. In this case I have notes of Inkwell, Ultimate Grey and Willow already in my home. Since we have been stuck in our homes for so much of this year, changing out a few accents like pillows, vases, throws, kitchen accessories, and office supplies can bring new life into your space.

In a perfect world with extra storage space I would have a few different color palettes on hand to switch things up every so often. It’s really easy to look for the perfect pieces and then think you are done decorating and it just sits for years. At the very least I try to move a vase to a different room, add a new plant, or rearrange how I have organized a shelf or table to keep things feeling fresh and new.
