Morningtide | Story
Lisa Fontaine and Lisa Wong Jackson launched Morningtide to bring thoughtfully curated selection of goods made by independent designers to the East Bay. They were both raised in Northern California and clearly use that inspiration to bring elements of quality and simplicity to life at Morningtide.
Morningtide | Why they Matter
We often find ourselves popping the kiddo in the stroller and walking along all of the cute shops and restaurants along Solano. Morningtide is one of my favorite stops along the way. I have bought everything from gorgeous wooden spoons, to soaps and even an inflatable pool!
There is just something very peaceful about the store, they clearly have a vision and carry products that all work well together in any home. There’s also a great small selection across a lot of categories. You can find a cute baby gift, buy yourself a new mug, and pick up a new dog toy. Like I said, for a small shop they carry variety exceptionally well.
I know there are a lot of cute shops, but not all shops are as active in the community as Morningtide is. If you are local they often host pop ups outside the store to support other businesses, such as the best bagels in Northern California from Ethel’s Bagels or incredible shaved ice from Always Aloha.
They also demonstrate commitment to support Black-owned brands through the #15percentpledge and Together We Raise which helps families separated at the border. It’s a true local community business that reaches beyond cute housewares.
Unrelated to housewares, they do this incredibly cool secondhand slow fashion through the Morningtide Loop. “A curated selection of gently used independent designer brands created to encourage the investment in slow fashion brands, recycling, and sustainability.”
